Our customers are always calling or emailing us because they are bombarded with solicitations for labor law posters.  Some get the one in the mail that talks about fines, see here  others get emails that look like this, copied directly from the email:

“The DOL has just made updates to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), also known as the Minimum Wage notice, and the Employee Polygraph Protection Act (EPPA).
By law, employers are required to post these new versions.
The changes made to the mandatory posters that you should be aware of are:

  • Removed fine amounts that became outdated when increased fines and civil penalties went into effect
  • The revised FLSA aka Minimum Wage poster has added information about independent contractors and nursing mothers
  • The FLSA poster now prominently displays the posting requirement. The phrase “The law requires employers to display this poster where employees can readily see it” has been moved to the top of the poster. Guarantee that you are compliant by law by displaying both revised posters along with their state required notices, many of which have recently been updated for 2017. Get both your federal and state labor law posters here”

This is a solicitation, when the person clicks on the links, it takes you to a website to order new posters.

The interesting thing about this email that’s going around is that its from July 2017, and the changes they are talking about took place in Aug 2016!!! They are about a year too late.

Our customers know when they buy from us, they are notified of any changes immediately upon their release, not a year later.

  1. On Monday, July 31, 2017 we received a receipt from Terry – an agent from the US Federal Compliance Office – Washington, DC Registrations ID 3723005610 and she sold my husband a poster for $189.00. Right after the purchase my husband felt he had been mislead to believe even though my son’s company has no employees, Terry agent 3973 at phone number 844-203-3203 said he might one day. So, why did we need the poster now for that price. I have called a number of places and we want to dispute this charge on our credit card. I called Terry back and she said she would have her supervisor contact us. He never did. If you try to get an address with the phone number it doesn’t work. We are disputing this charge with our credit card company at this time. Do you know if North Carolina states that we should have to hang up Federal Labor Law Posters at the place of business. You can get them if you need them very cheaply. Can you give us some direction.

    1. You can download them free from the Dept of Labor here https://www.dol.gov/general/topics/posters and for North Carolina here http://www.nclabor.com/posters/posters.htm or you can purchase from us. Our state and federal combination poster contains all the basic employment posting requirements, and we typically notify you via email when a mandatory change has occurred. We offer this laminated combination poster for just $19.95. You only need these posters if you have at least one employee in your payroll. http://www.allinoneposters.com/North-Carolina-Federal.html

      1. Don’t you think $189.00 is a very high price for one poster? I think they people who sold it to us were not really a business. I called them back and got the same girl and when I asked to speak to her supervisor she said he would call me back and never did. I did put a dispute into our credit card company, but doubt anything will come of it.

  2. A lot of misinformation here, 1, the $189 is not for 1 poster, that’s the whole point. Many services require that you pay for each and every update. The Federal guidelines change quite frequently all though the year, this company sends out the new updated versions each and every time. Also the $189 is one time for the life of the business, not an annual fee. 2nd, you cannot download the correct Federal postings. This is also incorrect, they must be the correct size, font etc. You can’t just simply “Print” them out and be fully compliant. Also, what business owner has time to keep up with every change, most like to just have a service do that for them and automatically send out their new postings. Also, yes, no employees or not, the Federal postings are law, period, if you register a business, you’re to have them posted or subject to fines and penalties….Let’s stop this nonsense of calling something you disagree with a scam, just because you can do it behind the internet. We don’t go around squacking scam at auto shops that charge to do an oil change because the one down the street is $30 cheaper and or the fact a person could if they wanted to learn how, could do it themselves. Most people want to just pay and have someone else do it for them, and that’s their prerogative.
